Often feed the stray cats in the yard, and then this happened

In the bustling city of New York, Vanessa, a dedicated animal rescuer(visit her Instagram here), is known for her unwavering commitment to aiding cats in her community. “Finding homes for rescued cats, only to have another stray show up at my door, is pretty much my daily routine,” she often jokes. Vanessa humorously suspects there’s a “cat billboard” out there, directing these felines straight to her.

Not long ago, a tricolor cat appeared at her doorstep, skinny and scavenging for food. Shy and skittish, the cat would dart away at the sight of Vanessa. Unsure if it was a stray or feral, Vanessa decided to earn its trust.

Upon closer observation, Vanessa noticed the cat’s slightly swollen belly, indicating pregnancy. She began leaving food in her yard, and gradually, the wary cat started to return almost daily for meals.

One day, the cat, usually punctual for its meals, didn’t show up. Vanessa speculated it might have gone to give birth but had no clue where. All she could do was wait for its return.

After a few days, the cat reappeared, visibly thinner post-birth. Vanessa was relieved to see it, knowing the cat and its kittens were somewhere safe, although their whereabouts remained a mystery.

To locate the kittens, Vanessa continued her efforts to bond with the mother cat, providing food thrice a day. Each time the cat finished eating, Vanessa would gently stroke it and talk softly.

Gradually, the cat’s trust in Vanessa grew. Eventually, it decided to reveal its hidden treasures. Leading Vanessa to a secluded corner, the cat unveiled four adorable kittens, fiercely protective and never straying far from them except for meals.

Vanessa visited the little family daily, earning more trust and affection from the mother cat. If Vanessa was a few minutes late, the cat would come out to greet her.

As the mother cat started moving her kittens to different hideouts beyond the backyard, Vanessa knew it was time to intervene and provide a safer home.

She lured the mother out with food and carefully gathered the kittens. “She knew I had always cared for her and her babies, so she didn’t seem to mind. I quickly settled the little family,” Vanessa said.

The endearing mother cat now purrs contentedly in her cozy foster home, delighted to have a safe, warm indoor environment with ample food for her and her kittens. What a heartwarming story!
